Welcome to the homepage of the fortress-association of the Kanton Schwyz. The association buys fortresses in the Kanton Schwyz (a region in Switzerland), dating back to the Second World War and refits them, as they were at the time.

The works are open to the public. There are no regular opening-hours. Guided tours are available in English for the fortresses “Grynau” and “Selgis”.

“Selgis” is a fortified division headquarter. A local artist made marvellous wallpaintings during his military-service in the 1940ies. The pictures show scenes of civil life.

“Grynau” is an infantry-fortress. That means, that the armament consists of light and heavy machine-guns and an anti-tank-gun. This fortress was part of the so called Réduit – the heavily fortified area in the alpes, wich Switzerland would have defended against a german attack.
